While Watching The Election Results...

I cried with joy and gratitude to see our country move beyond insane racial prejudice and recognize that all men are created equal.

I cried with sadness to see that our country has not yet moved beyond insane belief that all babies are not created equal and are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights-like the right to life.

I rejoiced that little black children FINALLY see someone who resembles them become President and know that it can happen for them as well.

I mourned that little children of all different colors will continue to be aborted, can never dream of being President, and that our future President, good man that he is, will not protect them.

I winced that a woman who raised a pioneering man did not live to see him make history.

I winced that a woman who raised a brave man did not get to see him elected.

I marveled that our country transfers power so easily and peacefully.

I marveled that ANYONE would want the job of President.

I admired a gracious concession speech by a true hero.

I admired a gracious acceptance speech by a man I admire for not making the race about race.

I vowed to pray for our future President's saftey, marriage, children, and legacy.

I vowed to teach my children to respect our leaders and to pray for them.

God reigns over the nations; God is seated on his holy throne...
for the kings of the earth belong to God; he is greatly exalted.
Psalm 47:8,9

Wow, thank you so much. This really helps me put it into a little more positive perspective. I guess the main thing is to remember no matter what, God is still God and he is in control!

Hi there! First time reader here - I just hopped over from AmyG's blog (My Life As a Trailer Park Mom). Thanks for a wonderful, godly perspective on this historic day.

Your family is beautiful, by the way - all girls just like ours :)

Words well written here, Cindy. As you always do. Thank you.

I sat in awe over McCain's consolation speech. Gracious and classy.

I agree. Although the man I voted for will not take office in January, and the accomplishments of pro-life movements for the last 30 years are at risk; I know that God has a plan...and I am excited to see it!

Thank you for these words of encouragement and hope. Remembering that God has not stepped down and is still in control is the safest place to be seated. That no matter who He has placed into the worldly seats of authority, we as His followers are to trust Him with our tomorrow and honor those in authority simply because He told us to.
Always,
Holli

Mutual friend Steph James introduced me to your blog. LOVE IT! Just wanted you to know that your words have calmed me some after an anxious night of little sleep. I know, I know...Philippians 4:6. Sometimes I am just not as obedient as I would like to be...or as God would like me to be. Blessings to you!

Hon, I do not understand how you can call that arrogant, Godless man a hero. He is no hero. What has he done? Nothing but flowery speeches that impress and entice the American nation. That's all he has done, and none of it in the name of God.
I believe Barack Obama is the man God wanted - probably to begin judgment. Haven't you thought he might not be president for a good reason?
I am relieved his poor mother was not there to see him elected. I am sad that little African-American children must have this man as their "role model", and that y'all can't see we did not overcome racial prejudice.
I'll be praying for you and for Obama.

"Lauren",
Please leave a way for me to contact you if you are going to criticize me on my blog.

John McCain IS a hero. Are you not clued in as to what he did for our country? To what he suffered, endured?? Either read my post more clearly and see who I am talking about, or read up on Mr. McCain who IS a hero.

If you have such strong opinions, you might consider posting it to your own blog.

I read Ps. 47 the day after the election also. It is very appropriate and encouraging.

After all the gloom-and-doom thoughts circulating around my brain, that was very refreshing. Thank you. I might print this up and put it on my bathroom mirror.

SO.WELL.SAID.

I think you just captured the feelings of more people than you know. On one hand, I'm so excited to see this huge step we've taken as a country. I feel inspired and unified and proud of our nation. On the other hand, I feel unbelieveably uneasy, nervous, and anxious for reasons having nothing to do with race. It's been a roller coaster of thoughts and emotions, to say the least.

Thank God we can all rest easy knowing Who is really in control :)

i pray that we realized God has placed this man there for a reason. We don't have to like him but love him as Christ calls us to. We have to respect him but not agree with him. We can pray that what he says is the truth and he means what he says. We can pray that he will have a change of heart about abortion and other issues....many.

praying for our nation and for God's leading!

Cindy,

You captured the ideas and the heart that has committed to pray for our President Elect, respect and honor his position as our President and to overcome any negative or disappointed feelings I might have had in the process.

I felt a little crazy, and did post politically on my blog. However, once the election was decided... I dropped my "rhetorical" posts and posted a letter to our President Elect and our sitting President - which I mailed to each the following day.

God has called me to stand in the gap, and I am more that certain He is doing a good thing here. All things work for our good and His glory.

I too am grateful for all the things you listed - though I cannot say admiration is something I have reflected much of for President Elect Obama. I am grateful to witness history and am hopeful this will be a transcendant moment for our nation and our world.

I'm still praying... and BTW, doing fine. Thanks for stopping in and saying hi!

Blessings.
