She's Gonna Let Her Little Light Shine!

Cassie's homework assignment last night was to gather five items to put in a bag that would represent who she was. She was then to write a paragraph about each item and the students would share their bags today at school to help them get to know each other.

She took a family photo and described our crew, and a book to show she loves to read. She took a few pieces of Bubbaloo, Mexican bubble gum she bought on our mission trip to Mexico. I was impressed that she was willing to share in her sixth grade public classroom that she went on a MISSION trip!

But wait! There's more!

Cassie's bag included a beaded bookmark she had made in pink and orange, and she shared that those are her favorite colors. She could have left it at that, but she also wrote that the bookmark was in the shape of the Christian fish, because she is a Christian!

But wait! Still more!

Also in her bag was a ribbon she earned in a Bible Bowl tournament. She wrote about how she studies and memorizes Scripture!

Apparently that shy little girl of mine is not ashamed of the Gospel.

I hope I can be like her when I grow up.

Way to go Cassie! It is very inspiring to hear of her courage in sharing the importance of her faith as well as her confidence in God as well.

Cassie rocks! I'm ashamed to say that sometimes I'm not even that bold.

I want to be like her too. Well, minus the gorgeous, long, blonde hair....that's just too much pressure for me. I heart Cassie. (Dare I say, it's a reflection of some terrific earthly parenting, too?))

Oh and if all my kids are ever home schooled at the same time, I'm going to do this project. Don't you think there are at least four things that your brother doesn't know about you?

Kids are cool! We should all be so bold. (Kids model what they see at home.)

hey that would be a great blog question ... and since she's your amazing, creative, bold daughter- you should ask it ...

What 5 things would you put in your bag to tell who you are??

Hide it under her backpack, NO!
She's gonna let it shine!!!

Way to go Cassie, you inspire me!

That is so great! Love the boldness (and we ALL could use a little more of that!).

She sets a great example for all of us - how many times do opportunities come up & we don't do what we know we should (share the gospel). Way to go Cassie!

Such a sweet, everyday way to live her faith.

It's who she is. She hasn't been taught that she's supposed to be ashamed. But with boldness like that, expect an attack. The enemy doesn't like it. I'll be praying for her protection and that no one douses that beautiful light at school today.

That is just beautiful. Nothing makes a mama more proud, I know. :-)

Wait a minute. If I didn't know better, I'd say you were ... proud of her? I'm proud of her too, and I don't even know her. You know what I mean. Also, I'm with Amy--why don't you do the same on your blog?

Obviously you and Scott have done a wonderful job with your children and this project is just a reflection of that! I know you are very proud!

Your family is beautiful. No greater joy for a mother than to see her children professing their faith in Jesus Christ! You must be so proud.

And what a beautiful gift God gave you as a reminder that you have trained them in the Lord all those years of homeschooling and now, as the strings were being cut, ever so slightly....they would stand firm in their faith!

It is nice to meet you and your family.

Cindy,

As you know, I love you! (Not in that crazy stalker way, but as one mom to another.) So, I'd like to pass a blogging award on to you. It's waiting at my place - check it out. :)

Blessings,
Tyler

this is why, when people try to give me garbage about sending 2/3 of my kids to public school, i feel confident in my choice. it's good for the kids who are able to shine (like your adorable, precious, brave girl) to be there- if we take all the kids like her out, it would be a dark place indeed.

atta girl, and atta mom! God's word does not return void! she's planting seeds!

That made my heart leap for joy! She is not ashamed of who she is and that is a child of the King and we should never be ashamed of that fact. And for a 6th grader in public school...that takes courage, commitment and love.
